Astrology: Aquarius-Leo - Why Your Ego Matters Inside the New Age (II)

By Graham Flynn

In component one we discussed Nietzches' three stages of consciousness: the Camel, the Lion as well as the Child.

If we look close to at our world today there is a important variety of people who are indeed waking up and walking their own individualized spiritual path, but there are an even higher range of "Camels," who still follow the herd, follow the group, want to belong, be in a gang, go along with the family, "toe the Corporate line," want to "fit in," not "make waves," follow the newest fashion, drop out and use drugs, alcohol, TV and numerous types of Piscean-type escapism.

The polarity of Aquarius' opposite sign, Leo, is needed, for Leo brings with it the path of Self-Realization. It takes a Lion's heart and courage to begin our inner journey to Self-realization. If we polarize too far on the Aquarian extreme, we run the risk of doing "humanity" - a utopian ideal with the collective - additional essential than the individuals within it. This can be after ecological idealism becomes imposed on individuals rather than structures which assist men and women in developing their self-awareness. Indeed that is exactly where communism went wrong.

Our present-day experience of Communism is an instance of after the ideal Aquarian group utopia is implemented just before men and women are ready. Camels can't do it, as well as the result is often a faceless collective wherever individualism is suppressed. Individuality is squashed and persons aren't allowed to produce waves. That is in which our lovely Leo will stand up and roar: What about ME? There's a real Self including a false Self, and it is Leo's career to figure out that's which, by exploring the Self.

The Aquarian Age may be the "new age" that we are entering. We are on the cusp of that age now as we leave the Piscean age that began in AD 1. Each age lasts approximately 2,160 years*. Esoteric Astrology tells us that during this new age we will each experience our very own Soul. This will probably be a gradual process and not a sudden, blinding revelation. It's essential to note that we aren't within the Aquarian Age yet; we are even now within the Piscean Age, but over a cusp. So our minds are nevertheless fogged by the illusion, fear, and confusion of lower Piscean consciousness.

Every individual matters. Every Lion who has the courage to stand up and choose an individualized path, who breaks free within the old patterns of "tribal thinking," will make a difference - specifically once those people people have begun to walk the path of their unique inner truth. Think about some of the most "radical" men and women of our age: Nelson Mandela, and most recently Burma's Aung San Suu Kyi. Those who stood alone and stood out were persecuted for it, and yet over a individual level radiate this kind of warmth, love and peace. It is via these kinds of heart-centred and courageous persons that the Aquarian dream of equality and humanitarianism will probably be realized in the Aquarian Age.

Our collective spiritual awakening will be a gradual system which will consume location over the next 2,200 years. The Age of Aquarius will bring "mystic revelations and also the mind's genuine liberation" (just as the song said!). But we are not there yet. We require a bridge, and Soul Astrology can also be just these kinds of a bridge for those who resonate with it.

Soul Astrology may be the Astrology of our inner journey. It supports individuals in waking up and embarking upon their own particular spiritual path. It's a bridge between the old world as well as the new age. It allows us to read a natal chart from a conventional perspective and from a spiritual perspective. It's a vehicle which can ferry us across the river on our journey to greater consciousness.
