Take Ceasar's Warning To Heart

By Lou Raedwulfe

Most people are aware of the saying that has to do with the Ides of March; it is a warning from a prophet to Julius Caesar about his death by murder. This saying became famous in Shakespere's play about Julius Caesar which warned of the death of Casesar by a soothsayer.

The day, March 15th, was actually an ancient holiday in Rome known as dedicated to Mars. It was on that day in 44 B.C. that Caesar was assassinated by Cassius, Brutus and others. From that time forward, March 15th has been regarded in popular culture as a day to pay attention to signs and portents and a time when momentous change could occur.

It is historically ironic that Washington DC and the end of Caesar's reign of power happened on the same day. Washington's birthday is considered March 15 in 1791. There certainly has been many changes that have swept the world since the first of the year and March is no exception as astrologers keep track of the changes that have already begun since the Ides of March.

When Wash DC's birth chart is compared to its chart for March 15 of this year, there are several planet relationships which are important to keep in mind. Some of the most interesting synastry line ups occur in the 8th and 9th houses of both charts. The term synastry is used in astrology to describe the similarities and compatibility of both charts and usually indicates what types of things could occur when looking at the past and blending it with the future chart.

March 15th, 2011 marks a point where several powerful influences may change the course of destiny. The transit of Washington D.C.'s sun is almost in the exact same position as it was on the day Washington was founded. Similarly, the transit of Mars is also in nearly the same position as the natal mars. Even more striking is that both Suns and both Mars' are in conjunction and in conjunction with each other. To put this into English (as opposed to astrologese) Sun conjunct Sun, Mars conjunct Mars, Natal Sun conjuct both Natal Mars and Transit Mars and Transit Sun conjunct both natal Mars and transit Mars.

All of this will be happening in the 8th House of transformation. This house also includes finances, passion and crises. This is a House of evolution and a very strong one at that. The coming events may be viewed as a coming storm or a beautiful day. Some may see it as a bit of both.

The most compelling aspects in astrology is the conjunction. If a conjunction involves the Sun, things are amplified. You would have, in this case, the Sun conjunct its natal chart. When Pisces is the transit sign and natal, both the negative and positive aspects are noticeable. It would then tend to compete with traits both negative and positive.

When viewed from a world perspective, this is a battle with self vs self and can bring on a ship without a rudder. What people are currently thinking may not be reality and can have a huge affect on this country.

Could a major political scandal be brewing? This could well be the time that the curtain is pulled back on some long kept secrets and the revelations may not be welcome.

Idealism may well blot out realism and that could lead to a void in direction. This void, however, may well be the beginning of an unseen transformative action the nature of which may not be readily apparent for a few months. If this weren't enough, the God of War, Mars, brings his dynamic energy to the party and heightens the intensity of the situation.

The God of War being conjunct with itself will increase the energy. Suffice it to say that the war drums on louder than ever. This type of energy was a driving force in the early days during the formation of our country. While Pisces can have a somewhat calming effect, it will not be enough to hide the energy of Mars.

The dance of Sun and Mars, in both natal and progressed charts, magnifies of the the positive and negative aspects of each other. This type of energy was present during the creation of the Dist of Columbia where both energies were at play and the congress had to compromise.

There is, at present, the competition between Mars and the Sun, each having their own interests at heart and who will become the dominant energy in the months that lie in the future.

One more aspect deserves our attention under the 8th house. DC's progressed chart has Saturn conjunct natal Uranus. This is a signal that a major event may be at hand which can cause a change in direction. Because it is occurring in the house of transformation gives it even more impact. Remember to 'take heed of the Ides of March'. All of this energy will take us forward into something brand new. It is how we think, feel and act to these events of change that will be important in determining what lies ahead. We cannot put the blame on anyone else for what becomes of our own future.

As the Bard put it so eloquently:

'The fault, dear Brutus, lies not with our stars, but with our selves'.
