'When the Going Get's Tough' An Astrological Glimpse Forward to 2010

By Gilbert Karlis

Having had enough with the fear-mongering that surrounds the year 2012, I decided to get a think about what the up-coming year, 2010, has in store for us from an Astrological thing of view.

I'm a bit of a cynic these days. I believe individuals can almost find a thing they like in an Astrology Chart. It is a bit like poetry. There's only so much objective facts available. The rest is completely up to what the reader desires to make of it.

But I nevertheless like to read poetry and find my own meaning from it, and so I nonetheless like to take into account a Chart and see what I can understand from it.

For the uninitiated, there are numerous various kinds of Astrology and quite a few various charts that may be drawn. An Astrological Chart is a picture from the heavens captured in symbolic type at a certain moment in time and space. Most folks know about Horoscopes- that is a Natal Chart- a picture on the heavens at the moment a infant is born in a specific place. But there are numerous others.

I chose to create a Natal Chart for ones birth on the New Year, because it occurs at Greenwich Mean Time. That is the commencing issue to your 24 hour day, as measured about the world.

So what do the heavens portend for ones birth of 2010?

The very first factor that jumped out at me was the Moon in its own sign of Cancer on the Midheaven. This indicates how the Feminine Principal- the nurturing mother- will arrive into prominence in 2010. And of course the most effective symbol of nurturing stands out as the planet itself-Gaia. So I predict that problems to complete with Planetary concerns like ecology, will likely be at the forefront of our minds.

But I also think that there will probably be a mother figure who will step forward to bring humanity's focus back onto the role on the mother. An additional Mother Theresa possibly?

The next thing to jump out at me is Saturn on a Ascendant. This leads me to think how the recession will continue into 2010. Everyone will probably be tightening their belts. Discipline and difficult jobs will replace the modern day mindset on the easy, instant-gratification life-style. Fear-mongering will spread. (Damn, and I was trying to find some excellent news!)

It's usually great to look at that the historical pendulum swings. There are economically good times and unfavorable times. And with these swings people's perceptions of life and themselves swing too. You may greet the news of continued hardship with fear and trepidation, taking it personally as a reflection of your failure, or you are able to take in up my motto for your New Year: 'When the times get tough, the hard get going!'

Even with times being hard, there will probably be a lot fun, of an escapist kind, to become had. My thoughts right away go on the Film and TV Industry.

So, even though we're tightening our belts, we're even now paying out to your latest blockbuster or video game to consume us away within the harshness of reality. And magic and mystery will continue to fascinate us, too!

The last factor that jumps out at me is our Karmic direction. This can be humanity's destiny, in case you will. What we are trying to learn being a culture at this time.

To find this out I think about the moon's north node, that is certainly in Capricorn inside Fourth House in 2010's birth chart. I consider the Sabian Symbol for your particular degree of the node too. In this case it's the 22nd degree of Capricorn.

Cut on the chase? (jargon is also annoying)

Here we now have a repeat of the a couple of earlier messages I've known around Saturn and also the Moon. The node in Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, the hard-work, fears and restrictions guy, during the house of the home, ruled by the Moon- the nurturing primary again.

When you see patterns repeating themselves in a Chart you'll be able to be relatively certain that what the pattern is saying is going to manifest inside a major way.

And the Sabian Symbol? It reads as 'By Accepting Defeat gracefully, a general reveals nobility of character... (ie) The realization that 1 may well grow through defeat too as, and possibly far more than, via success... INNER STRENGTH' (quoted from Dane Rudyar's An Astrological Mandala)

So my plans to your coming year? Batten down the hatches, prepare in your good deal of hard-work, focus on nurturing and caring for others as well as the planet, and get ready to grow through adversity (while indulging inside a small escapist entertainment to balance the load).
