Advice from the Stars Above as a Skeptic

By Xander Davenport

During high school one of my friends was a dedicated believer in the power of astrology in figuring out character, relations and compatibility. That first week of college she spent her time figuring out which Sagittarius would suit her Virgo character, whether or not that Taurus seemed a trouble maker or if the male Capricorn in the corner could possibly be the love of her life.

While her zeal for the stars and far seeing died down soon after realizing that she alone shared her enthusiasm, it definitely did spark an interest in me as to whether there could have been any basis behind all the wild allegations of celestial inference.

10 years later, when a few my mates decided to seek out the guidance of a clairvoyant for matters of both heart and career, I thought it may be a great idea to tag along. Whether a psychic reader was going to inform us any educating details about our current and future predicaments we quietly doubted, but nevertheless we delved into the supernatural side of life and had a tarot card reader divulge our destiny.

On her command we tapped into our body, mind, and spirit to get a clear feeling for our mystic hearing. Unfortunately for me no details were told of my approaching great fortune or my future partner's phenomenal talents in the bedroom, but I did appreciate her foresight of my life being a long and happy one.

While not a complete skeptic I can't say that I am a true believer. Seeking the guidance of a mystical medium may reap stronger rewards for those looking for comfort and energy healing but for a bunch of twenty-something girls looking for direct answers on life and love, our experiences were not exactly as we had hoped it'd be.

After all I still do enjoy checking my daily horoscope on a regular basis.
