Can Astrology Ever Really Work?

By Bill Underwood

Reading horoscopes is great fun, and calling an astrologer for a chart reading can fill your belly with butterflies. They will tell you things you never knew about yourself and show you what can be expected in the future. But is it for real? How can an astrologer use the location of the planets to inform you about the days or years ahead?

Although many millions of individuals turn to daily horoscopes to help to plan their day, and many seek advice from astrologers, there are also lots of skeptics. Many see astrology as a sham that's designed to nab your cash. Let's take a look at what either side of the discussion want to say.

Yes, Astrology Is Real!

Those that love astrology are quick to indicate that it is a traditional custom and one that's practiced all around the globe. For many years, skeptics said that normal Chinese medicine was a sting seeing as there had been no medical proof that it worked. But lately, we are finding out that it's legit. The same may be said for astrology and other traditional practices.

Astrology is also practiced in cultures all around the world. Like our tropical zodiac astrology, India has a traditional Hindu form known as Jyotish (often referred to as Vedic Astrology), which is closely connected to the Hindu religion. There's also Chinese astrology, which is rising in a foothold latterly, and there are the numerous varieties of astrology practiced by native peoples.

There basically are a number of astronomers who think that astrology is genuine. Percy Seymour is an astronomer who has written extensively on his speculation that planets have an effect on character. He says that heavenly bodies generate fields which affect the formation of the child's brain in the womb.

What The Skeptics Say

The primary claim by skeptics is that there's no scientific evidence that astrology is verifiable. They ask, 'How can the progress of the planets influence your character and future? ' Many also say that it cannot be verifiable because there isn't any way to pinpoint the future. They see astrology as a kind of divination, which it's not.

Many individuals believe that astrology has a negative influence on folk. They are saying that it strengthens the concept it's luck and fate, rather than hard work and effort that establishes your future. In other words, astrology makes us lazy! If we all know what's going to happen in our future, why trouble doing anything to make it? They regard astrology as a superstition, and they see it as something that holds people back from shaping their own destinies.

Ultimately, some claim that astrology can't be real because it presupposes a geocentric universe. In simple terms, they say that in astrology, the planets revolve around the earth. But we know today that the earth and the planets revolve around the sun. Again, this shows a misconception about how astrology works. In astrology, the position of the planets in relation to the earth dictates personality. There are also different astrological methods that take into consideration the proven fact that the sun is the center of the universe.

What Do You Believe?

Though there's not solid scientific proof and there are several who scoff, millions still believe in astrology and its power to translate your destiny. Websites that offer horoscopes and readings are extremely popular and folk spend their hard-earned cash to find out what their chart says about them and their future. When you get your astrological chart done, it is commonly uncanny how brilliantly it describes your character. Many skeptics have been turned around by their first astrological reading.
